IND vs NZ, 3rd ODI LIVE: New Zealand Elect To Bowl First In Indore

Indore: New Zealand's top-order have failed miserably in each of the first two ODIs of the three-match series which will be their biggest concern when they take on India in the 3rd and final ODI of this bilateral series at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Even though New Zealand came close to India's target of 349 in the series opener in Hyderabad, it is pertinent to note that the Kiwis had lost their first six wickets at the score of 131 and if it hadn't been for the partnership between Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner, it would have been an embarrassing defeat for the BlackCaps, much like the second ODI in Raipur where they didn't stitch any substantial partnership and were eventually bowled out for 108 after being asked to bat first by India.

Given that fact that the final ODI is in Indore which is a batter's paradise, New Zealand would want to get a good start from their top-order. Tom Latham himself would be looking for a big score in the final ODI and given his superb record against India, he would be eager to finish the series on a high. Finn Allen too hasn't yet taken the series by storm but has the potential, as he has shown time and again, to play a world-class innings.

Their pace bowling without two of their most reliable pacers over the years Trent Boult and Tim Southee has looked a touch weak especially with the new ball as the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have particularly liked the ball coming on to their bat.

As far as India are concerned, the list of concerns is less and positives a lot more with the series already in the kitty. Suryakumar Yadav, who hasn't sealed his place in the Playing 11 in this format, would get a guaranteed chance in this match to prove his worth and he would want to gran this opportunity with both hands especially with the likes of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer set to return in the forthcoming series. If India win not only will they complete a clean sweep but will also get to the number 1 rankings in this format in the World Cup year.
