Monday, November 28th, the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers will play the third of four scheduled contests. The teams completed a home-and-home both winning on their home floor.
Atlanta won 104-95 on the November 10th match and Philly won 121-109 on November 12th. Atlanta will host the final meeting of the season on April 7th.
Both teams are playing a back-to-back set with the Hawks losing 98-106 to the Heat while the 76ers thumped the Magic 133-103.
Last season, the squads played three times with Philly winning two of the three contests. The 76ers hold the all-time record having bested the Hawks in 199 of their 392 matches.
It was a weekend the Hawks will want to put behind them quickly after consecutive losses to the Rockets and Heat. The former was more embarrassing given Trae Young and Dejounte Murray were celebrating mid-game only to cough up the lead and lose.
Against the Heat, they faced a team missing Jimmy Butler and 11 players listed on the injury report pre-game. But as is typical for ‘Heat Culture’ several players suited up despite nursing bumps and bruises and ground out the victory.
Trae Young collected a double-double of 22 points and 14 assists, but struggled shooting 4 of 16 and was aided by 13 trips to the charity stripe.
John Collins also delivered a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds shooting an efficient 11 of 17 and punctuating my prior point about him needing more shot attempts!
YOU CAN CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT OUR TOP NBA HANDICAPPERS IN THE WORLD! (All Under 1 Roof)On the season, the Hawks rank 14th in scoring with 114.0 points per game. Atlanta shoots 46.0% from the field and 32.4% from the perimeter ranking 22nd and 27th respectively.
Defensively, the Hawks allow opponents to score 114.3 points per game ranking 19th overall. Atlanta allows their opponents to shoot 46.5 percent from the field ranking 14th and 31.2% from the perimeter which is the third-best mark.
Clint Capela (dental) is questionable for Monday. Bogdan Bogdanovic (knee) is out indefinitely.
Missing their big three wasn’t an issue for the 76ers on Sunday as they pummeled the Magic with six players scoring in double-figures led by Shake Milton (29) and Tobias Harris (25). Philly outscored the Magic 31-13 and never looked back.
This season, the 76ers score an average of 108.5 points per game ranking 27th. Philly shoots 46.8 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from the perimeter which ranks 14th and seventh respectively.
Defense is where the 76ers make their mark with the top-ranked opponent scoring allowed of 106.2 points per game and best perimeter defense holding opponents to 31.2% while ranking 17th for opponent field goal percentage (46.5%).
Joel Embiid (foot), and Matisse Thybulle (ankle) are questionable. Tyrese Maxey (foot), James Harden (foot), and Jaden Springer (quad) are out indefinitely.
The Hawks get the benefit of facing a decimated 76ers squad — or do they? Joel Embiid is questionable for this game and his return would give the Sixers the edge.
Philly is simply a more physical team so I’m going to bank on the big man’s return and a break of the trend for the Hawks.
